The love of our God is beyond words. He created us out of His love and the desire to share it with others. He was and is totally self-sufficient, but He has so much love that He could not help but share it. From the beginning He has desired to collaborate with us in the creation of human history. He gave us everything we would ever need, yet if you are anything like me, you rarely take the time to contemplate how amazing is our God.
I like to walk early in the mornings and watch the sunrise. The colors explode like fire across the sky as the sun greets the morning clouds. The blue of our sky is one of the purest and most beautiful colors we will ever encounter. Every day God paints a new canvas for our enjoyment and wonder. He is an awesome God who is truly worthy of our praise. When was the last time you took the time to simply marvel at the beauty of the world around you?
I’m a bit of an animal nut with a strong propensity towards dogs. The possibly sad but honest truth is I rarely will forget the name of your dog, but yours may slip my mind. Most mornings I encounter a large blue heron wading in the water near my walking path. I find it to be a majestic bird and am often breathless as I watch it gracefully take flight. I have ridden an elephant and gently held a lion cub in my arms. I have been fascinated watching the work of lowly ants as they coordinate their efforts to achieve results far beyond what should be possible. From the tiny ant to the mighty elephant and all creatures in between, how can we not stand in awe at the creativity and workmanship of our God? When was the last time you took the time to appreciate the creatures in your world?
Our minds are a marvel all by themselves and speak of the awesomeness of God’s intelligence and attention to detail. Incredibly, modern science tells us that we utilize just over 10% of the capacity of our minds. Imagine what we could accomplish if only we used an additional two or three percent of our brain power. We have made great technological advances while 90% of our brain has remained dormant. God has created us to do so much more yet we are seemingly content to spend our lives significantly underachieving. When was the last time you contemplated the amazing work of the brain and thanked God for the ability to live the life we do?
The human body is a complex machine perfectly designed to do everything we need to not only survive but to thrive. We have hands to grip, muscles to lift and provide power, eyes to take in our surroundings and ears to process what goes on around us. All of this is supported by an amazing roadwork of muscles and veins, organs and blood. Who could have ever dreamed up such a creation? Only God; there is no other plausible explanation. When was the last time you contemplated how majestically and fearfully we have been made?
Our God is truly amazing. He is awesome in power, love, beauty and intelligence. We cannot fathom His depths. Yet He invites us to collaborate and dance with Him. He longs for us to seek Him. He patiently waits through all of our mistakes and wanderings. As a writer I find myself in the especially uncomfortable position of having no words to describe what He means to me and how grateful I am for His love and the opportunity to serve such an amazing God. When was the last time you considered how awesome He truly is and how much you are loved? Make the time to appreciate our Savior and Creator. He is worthy of our praise for He is truly amazing.
