There is great comfort in knowing God has given us everything we need to do the work He has called us to do. No matter how big or difficult the task before us looks, we are fully equipped to get the work done. Why are we so hesitant to move forward when deep inside, we know we are fully equipped to handle whatever comes our way? Within each follower of Jesus is the Holy Spirit of God Himself.
We have immediate access to all the power of God in every given moment. Ask yourself, “Would Jesus be afraid of doing what I know I should do next? Would Jesus wilt under pressure and turn aside to go an easier way?” Of course, the answer to both questions is no. Knowing Jesus is not only with us, but within us, why do we hesitate?
We become fearful when we focus on our own strength. I’ll be honest, there are days my strength isn’t even enough to get me out of bed in the morning, much less fight the battles I’m sure to face as the day unfolds. It is only through the power of Jesus I can do anything, which is okay because it’s in this exact state God can best use us. Everything we do in life should be for God’s glory and for building His Kingdom. If we’re focused on ourselves, we’ll be too busy building our kingdom to have anything left to give for God’s Kingdom.
If you are proud of what you’ve accomplished in life, you are missing the point. You are focused on the wrong outcome. The only results having any meaning are those results you help achieve for the mission of Christ. God’s strength is infinitely greater than our own. Therefore, whatever He builds will be infinitely greater than anything we might build on our own. His Kingdom will last, ours will not. So, which one do you want to spend your life building?
If you decide to devote your life to continuing the mission of Jesus, you will be given hard work to do and you will face obstacles that appear insurmountable. Satan wants no one progressing the Kingdom of God, so he will unleash his full arsenal onto your life. You will take hits, you’ll be damaged, and you’ll be pushed back. But you are fully equipped to stand back up, dust yourself off, and move forward in the name of Jesus.
When you make Jesus Lord of your life, you will encounter resistance as you have never known. Don’t worry; if the devil is taking notice of you it means you are doing something right! Expect your road will be difficult and full of discomfort. Why would we expect our path to be any easier than the path Jesus walked when He was on earth? There is great comfort in knowing we are fully equipped for the journey, just as Jesus was. He is still beside you and He will never leave (Deuteronomy 31:6). No matter the obstacle, challenge, or fear, Jesus has made you fully equipped to overcome it. Keep your eyes on Him and ignore the circumstances swirling around you. Stay focused and you will overcome. You will be victorious.
