I’m astounded by the number of professing Christians these days who are joining popular cultural choruses demanding their rights to engage in activities in direct contradiction of the Bible. For someone surrendered to the Lord, they can never say they have a right to anything. Let me put it bluntly: if you have surrendered your life to Christ, you have no rights.
All of your rights have been signed over to Jesus. You have pledged to live your life by His standards and according to His Word. If you think you still have a right to do anything you desire, then you don’t know Jesus. He demands we leave everything behind and follow Him.
Those words may seem harsh and too stringent. If they do, perhaps you are still clinging to your sense of entitlement to do whatever you desire. But you have no rights anymore. If you have given your life to Christ, you no longer live except for the fact that Christ lives in you (Galatians 2:19-20). It doesn’t matter what you want. The only thing that matters is what God wants. The decay and chaos we now see in the world is a direct result of churches no longer preaching the Word of God and holding their congregations responsible for adhering to the ways of Christ instead of the ways of the world.
If you’ve been paying attention, the past couple of years have seen an explosion in the numbers of celebrity Christians rejecting their faith and popular and well-respected pastors compromising their message to the point there is little resemblance to the Jesus they preach and the one found in the Word of God. We began by trying to explain how the Bible is consistent with man’s science. Once we allowed the foundations of our faith to be shattered by that compromise, we moved on to trying to make the Bible compatible with today’s culture. What’s left is a weak, spineless and ineffective church that no longer has anything to offer to the world.
Many so-called Christians now agree with unbelievers that they have a right to determine their gender, dictate their sexuality, and choose who should live or die in the womb. Let me say it once more: if you are serious about Jesus being your Lord and Savior, you have no rights. None. You don’t get to choose to do what violates the Word of God. Affirming that choice by others only proves you don’t believe what the Bible says.
I realize this post is a little more aggressive than what you typically read here. The reason is the days are growing increasingly dark. Unless those of us who are serious about Jesus being their Lord start standing on the truth of God’s Word, we’re going to lose this generation. I don’t want to be responsible for that. I want to show the world that only in Jesus will they find hope, freedom, and love. Nothing else will satisfy. Jesus is the only way, the only truth, and the only hope (John 14:6).
If you love Jesus, you have no rights. Your life is not your own. It was bought and paid for by the blood and sacrifice of Jesus. You can do whatever you want. You can have your own beliefs. But you can’t do that and still have Jesus. Enough with all the compromising. Jesus is Lord and Jesus is King. We will either live for Him and stand for His every Word, or we will die in our sin.
