Jeremy Camp has written a song titled, “The Same Power”. It reminds us the same power that raised Jesus from the grave lives in us. How often do we live as if this is true? We spend our days trying to solve problems in our own strength. We never want to be seen as incapable or weak. Our image often seems to be our primary concern. Jesus said He is glorified through our weakness. Indeed, it is only when we humble ourselves enough to say we can’t do it on our own that His power is allowed to manifest itself in our lives.
He longs to fill and equip us with His strength but gives us the option to accept it or not. He leaves it up to us to decide if we will call upon the power residing within us through His Spirit, or choose to attempt to conquer this world on our own.
I don’t believe we spend enough time thinking about the power God has placed within us. When we accept Jesus as the Lord of our lives, His Spirit intermingles with our soul. We become one. We acquire all the power of God to do things well beyond our own ability or belief. I’ll be honest; I can’t explain how this works, but I know it to be true. The very same power used to raise Jesus from the grave now resides in us. What is it you think you cannot do with such authority at your disposal?
Read some of the lyrics from Jeremy’s song:
The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us
What powerful truth! These are more than some well-written words to a song. They are God’s truth as revealed in Scripture. The same power that raised Jesus from the grave does indeed live in you. Do you believe this?
God has equipped you to do amazing work for His Kingdom. The way He does this is through His Spirit living in you. With God as the source of your strength, there is nothing you will not be able to accomplish as long as you are acting in His strength and not your own.
Do you spend your days working in your strength or relying on God’s power? Do you believe the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you? Has it ever sunk in that all of God’s power is not only available to you but actually lives in you? What fears have you allowed to hold you back? Do you not think God’s power is enough to demolish them? What skills do you believe you lack? Isn’t the power of God enough to overcome your shortcomings? The same power that raised Jesus from the grave lives in us. It’s about time we started living out this truth.
