Be careful! When you surrender your life completely to Christ, expect Him to give you some God-sized goals and work to do. The brilliant part of this plan is our God-sized God can accomplish all the God-sized goals he conceives. The fact He would engage people such as you or me to accomplish His work is beyond all reason, wonder, and logic. Yet, it’s what He does. God invites us to partner with Him in His mission for all humanity.
Our role is to be surrendered, committed, and obedient. We only need to do what He tells us to do. Even when things look impossible, we simply must have the faith to believe it will be accomplished. That’s God’s role in our partnership. He gives us the dream and the abilities to see the dream to fruition. Whatever we lack, He Himself will supply.
The beauty of God-sized goals is we know they are impossible without Him and so does everyone else! Because of this, when the goal is achieved, everyone knows it was God. They know we could never have accomplished what we did on our own. It’s at this point we can give all the credit and glory to God. In fact, this is the point we must give all the glory to God. We ourselves know what God put into our minds was impossible for us. Thankfully, we serve the God of the possible. With His help, strength, and guidance, we can and will accomplish what He has given us to do.
This all sounds wonderful and is indeed easier to say than do. Taking part in God’s plan is not easy. It requires immense amounts of faith, patience, and willingness to forgo everything important to us in favor of all that is important to God. With God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). We simply must believe and go with it. He will provide the tools, talents, and resources we need.
The question is whether our goals are big enough. Are we dreaming the way God dreams? God knows no limitations, so they are not things He considers. We must do the same. As servants of the limitless God, we have put aside our fears and our small-thinking. We want to have God-sized goals, so God will be praised for what He has done.
What God-sized goals has He placed within you? Are there things you’d like to do for the Kingdom but haven’t because you thought you weren’t qualified to achieve them? I’m not talking pop-psychology here. This isn’t about pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and getting it done. On the contrary, it’s a call to recognize Christ has some God-sized goals and work for you to do. He wants us to recognize the impossibility of them and then to surrender fully to Him and watch Him work.
It all boils down to two types of people: those who believe God can accomplish whatever He has placed on their hearts, and those who don’t. I don’t want to be in the latter group. I don’t have the guts to tell God He’s wrong, He’s got the wrong person, or He asks too much. None of that is true anyway. What’s true is God is able to do immeasurably more than we could ever hope or imagine (Ephesians 3:20-21). He’s got this. He doesn’t need our help, but He chooses it. What God-sized goals have you been putting off? Why not surrender and begin tackling them today?
