We all want to feel like a winner. Nobody wants to live their life in defeat. We fear failure because of the chance we’ll be labeled a loser. I submit we spend a large portion of our life focused on winning. We want to win in our relationships, with our finances, our career, and in pretty much any competition in which we engage. That pretty well covers how we spend our days. I dare say we might even be obsessed with winning. Otherwise, why would we spend so much of our lives focused on it?
The best news is God has already declared you a winner. All things were created through His perfect Son Jesus, which means all things were perfectly created. You are the exact combination of skills, talents, and passions He created you to be. You are loved by the eternal King of the universe. That sounds like a winner to me. In Jesus, you are victorious before you ever begin!
In our fallen world, some lives work out better than others. Some have suffered years of abuse and addiction. Some have mental or physical impairments they feel hold them back. Sadder still, some have every advantage but squander it on selfish living or outright rebellion towards God. Still, Jesus loves each and every one of us the same. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what you’ve experienced, what you’ve done, or who you are. Jesus calls you His child. He calls you loved. He makes you victorious.
Dave Ramsey likes to say, “They’ve done the research and determined 100% of people will die.” It’s a humorous take on a stark reality. Each of us has limited time on this planet. No matter how much of a winner or loser you may think you are, the truth is if Jesus is your Lord, when your time comes to die you will be victorious. You will reign with Christ for all eternity. I don’t know exactly what that looks like or how it will all play out, but I do know we will be with Jesus. Can you imagine? Our Savior, our Creator, our best friend will be with us in a very tangible way. I can’t wait for this to happen. If you can think about that and not feel like an incredible winner, you need to get to know Jesus better. He is beyond compare. Everything you seek or desire is found in Him.
If you struggle with low self-esteem, live in challenging or even dangerous circumstances, I know I’m not going to transform your life in about 500 words. But Jesus can do it with just one: “come”. He calls you to Himself and promises to lift the heaviness of everything you have endured from you (Matthew 11:29-30; Psalm 55:22). His peace can replace your pain. It is there for the asking. His grace will cover any wrong you’ve ever done. His unconditional love will instantly transform you from feeling like a loser into a victorious champion in His family. Your eternity is safe with Him. Your life can begin anew today. Come to Jesus and find the victorious life you’ve always desired.
