Even If i Walk Alone

Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus

Getting Satan’s Attention

November 19, 2015 by Tim Sherfy

I can imagine few fates worse than being ignored by the devil. Disciples of Jesus make it their business to go about getting Satan’s attention.  Our goal should be to be so effective for the Kingdom that Satan cannot ignore us. I read a prayer once that said, “Lord, it’s not hard to see why Satan attacks. May I continue to be enough of a threat to him to merit his attention! Don’t ever let me become so anemic in my Christian walk that he doesn’t need to bother with me. Amen.”

That should be our prayer as well. If we’re not getting Satan’s attention, then we are living lukewarm, weak, and ineffective lives.

Get Noticed

The first step to getting Satan’s attention is to get noticed. You will be virtually invisible to the enemy as long as you are living selfishly and ignoring God. The easiest way to get noticed is to simply begin obeying Christ. Read through the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Make note of the things Jesus said and the way He lived. Then begin doing the things He told His followers to do and living a life that looks just like His.

Take Back Territory

Satan has spent 10,000 years or so encroaching on the territory of God. The devil has stolen the things God intended for His children. When we pray and take action for the Kingdom, you will begin getting Satan’s attention because you will be taking back what rightfully belongs to God. Every prayer and step of obedience to God pushes Satan and His demons back from the territory he stole. The devil has no claim on your life and no claim on those you will impact for Christ. Remind him he owns nothing and has nothing.

Prepare for Attack

Getting Satan’s attention has the potential to be fraught with peril. When you get noticed, he isn’t likely to just sniff and turn away. Know this: the devil hates you and wants you dead. He won’t ignore your overtures on his pathetic little kingdom. He will fight back and you may suffer. Remember God has already defeated Satan and any pain we endure is temporary and more than worth it (2 Corinthians 4:17). Since you know attacks will come, you should prepare yourself in advance. Arm yourself with the knowledge of God’s Word so you can rebuke the lies of Satan; surrender your life to Christ so His righteousness in you will absorb the blows of the evil one (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Getting Satan’s Attention

If you really want to, getting Satan’s attention is easy. Live your life dedicated to the Master and Creator of the Universe. Love God with all your heart, and love others in the same way. Obey and honor God, and serve the marginalized, the desperate, and those who are far from Him. Always operate in a mode of advancement. Never surrender, never retreat, and never back down. God is with you, for you, and in you. You have all the power and resources you will ever need. Don’t faint or waver. Satan is already done. Let’s finish this.
