There is no doubt we were created for more. We were created to be more, love more, give more, serve more, and look more like Jesus. None of us are fulfilling our God-given potential. I know this because I don’t think any of us can fathom all God has in mind for us. He sees us as He created us to be. We see ourselves in light of our experiences, confidence, faith, and distorted perception of our skills and abilities. Because we are polluted by sin, we are blinded to the glorious reality designed for us by our Creator.
We are all experiencing God’s potential for our lives in varying degrees. Some are further along than others. Some haven’t even gotten started. But all of us have an enormous potential placed inside of us by the perfect and divine creator Jesus. He created us in the image of Himself. There are no limits when we surrender fully to Him.
God sees us where we are and as we are. He is not deceived by our current reality. He knows who He created us to be. He sees our potential and knows what we can and will accomplish if we will get out of the way and place all our doubt and fear on Him. He is not encumbered by the things we are. He has the power to obliterate every obstacle. When we surrender our lives to Him, the full power of Heaven is brought to bear on our lives and in the world around us. The only thing keeping us from living to our full potential is our unwillingness to surrender everything to Christ and our lack of belief in His power to accomplish what we deem impossible.
See yourself through God’s eyes. He sees all the potential He has placed inside you. He sees every good thing He has designed you to do and accomplish. Most of all, He sees every life He has equipped you to touch in His name. He sees more in you than you do yourself because He knows you were created for more than you currently are. He sees you not only as you are, but as you could be, and as you will be. Jesus created you in His image and when He restores all things, you will once again be the spitting image of our Savior. In between now and then, you have the opportunity to look more like Christ every day. We have the unmatchable opportunity of letting the God of Heaven not only live in us but to live through us.
What would your life look like if you gave up all the limiting beliefs imparted to you through what past experiences and cultural norms have dictated to you? They are all lies. Jesus is the only source of truth for who you truly are. He knows who He created you to be, and He has given you everything you need to become that person. All we have to do is surrender, obey, and believe. His power in us will take care of the rest. Today, let’s stop living the life we’ve created and begin to live the life He designed. We were created for more. Don’t settle for anything less.
