Oh, that we might fall in love with Jesus. We need to see Him as He is, the amazing, loving, and beautiful beyond compare Son of the living God. How many days have we let pass by without giving proper thought to His majesty? Days come and go, and we busy ourselves with our lives in this world while giving little to any thought of our life in the world to come.
We focus on ourselves and our problems and relegate Jesus to the shadows and creases of our consciousness. His beauty should overwhelm us, but we find new ways every day to ignore it. We have allowed Satan to blind and distract us from the glory of God.
When was the last time you focused on the awesomeness of our God? How long has it been since you sat quietly gazing on His unfathomable beauty? When was the last time you fell facedown as you contemplated your unworthiness to receive His unwavering love? How is it we expect others to see Jesus in our lives when we are so underwhelmed with His majesty? His magnificence should leave us irrevocably broken. We cannot look on the King of Kings and not be changed forever.
But for most of us, we’ll get up tomorrow and go about our day pretty much the same as we did today. We’ll concentrate on work, juggling family schedules, fume over our commute, and maybe, just maybe, find a little time to relax and entertain ourselves before going to bed in preparation to do it all again tomorrow. Jesus? Yeah, we say we love Him. We say He’s the most important thing in our lives. But, where is He? When you reflect on your day, how much of it did you spend thinking of Him? How much time did you spend worshipping your Creator? Did you give adequate time to contemplating what He had for you to do today?
We do not serve Him as He deserves because we don’t gaze on Him with enough intensity or regularity. I know this because, if we did, our lives would look different. If we began our days focused on the enormity of His love, the atrociousness of His beauty, and the magnitude of His grace, our lives would be forever changed. We would no longer be content to carry on the way we’ve always done. If we understood who He is, we could not spend our days engaged in the petty distractions with which we fill our lives.
Jesus is the most beautiful, loving, and perfect being. There is none like Him. This majestic being gave His life for you. He suffered unthinkable horrors for you and me. He did it because of His unshakable love for us. What will you do with that? How will you respond? Does He deserve the life you are living given what He did for you? Everything must change. Look on His beauty. Feel His love and understand His mission. We are no longer our own. We have been bought for an unthinkable price. It’s past time we began to live like we believed it.
