Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus

Simple

simplicity,Jesus first,reflection,meditation

I’m an extremely driven person with enough dreams and aspirations to span a couple of lifetimes. One of the biggest challenges in dealing with my personality is remembering to focus on the most important things in life. In my case, that means taking time to concentrate on Jesus and make the adjustments necessary in my life to be a consistent follower of His. There is a tendency in our Western culture to be very busy; nobody really cares what you are busy doing, just as long as you are busy. We’ve lost the simplicity of previous generations, and we may be losing our souls in the process.

Living an Authentic Life

May 24, 2012 by Tim Sherfy

authenticity,consistency,what is the meaning of life,life purpose,fulfillment

Many desire to live authentic lives but struggle to know what that actually means. A life of authenticity is one lived true to yourself, without pretense, and in perfect alignment with who you were created to be. Sounds simple, right? It should be, but I’m confident you’d agree that it is anything but easy. To tackle this problem, we must approach it from the inside out. Working from the outside in would only breed superficiality, which is in direct conflict with living an authentic life. It all begins within, and this is where we will start.

Imagine how happy you’d be if you could change the circumstances around you to better suit your needs and desires. What would life look like for you if that were possible? Where would you live? How would you spend your days? Before you dismiss this out of hand, I encourage you to read on; there really is a simple secret to begin changing your life today, and it’s something that anyone can do!

God’s Will for Your Life

April 12, 2012 by Tim Sherfy

blueprint,direction,decisions,God's plan

It seems so many Christians are desperately seeking to find God’s will for their lives. From my observations, perhaps no other question causes more stress in the life of a believer than this one. I’ve seen far too many Christians paralyzed over not being able to figure out the exact path God wants them to walk. Instead of doing something that would further the mission of Christ, they become frozen in the fear of doing anything outside of God’s perfect will for their lives. Christians have allowed secular influences to color the way we understand the will of God. We’ve twisted the message of what God’s will is for the Church and narrowed it down into seeking what His will is for our individual lives. That’s not in the Bible; it’s only in our own selfish and short-sighted interpretation.

What’s Your Story?

March 12, 2012 by Tim Sherfy

The story of your life

Everybody’s got a story. We all came from somewhere and we’re all going somewhere. Everything in between is our story. Some stories are dramatic, some are comical; some are tragic while others are triumphant. But each of us has a story that we are telling with our lives, each day continuing or beginning a new chapter. Each of us will be remembered by the story we have woven. The question is what kind of story are you writing? When you stand before the Creator and Judge of the Universe, will you be pleased to have Him read from the pages of your life?
