In Another Life

December 26, 2011 by Tim Sherfy

Genie lamp

I realize there may be some of you reading this blog who think it all sounds well and good, and you’d really like to commit everything to Jesus, but you’ve wasted years of your life already and are now in a situation that prohibits you from leading a life that looks like Christ. Perhaps you tell yourself that in another life you would have done great things for the Kingdom, you would have been the most committed and devoted follower of Christ this world had ever seen; in another life… Meanwhile you have what’s left of this life to decide what you will do for the sake of God and His glory.

Giving

Wrapped Present

I debated on writing a specific Christmas post this year. On the one hand, it’s what Christian bloggers are supposed to do; I’m pretty sure there’s a rule book somewhere that covers stuff like this. On the other hand, this blog is about living unconventionally in a way that flies in the face of the establishment. But when it comes down to it, the core of the message I write about is the amazing gift of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. This gift would have never occurred had it not first been for the birth of a Savior into our world; we would be lost without hope had God not sent His Son to be born as a baby over 2,000 years ago. Make Each Moment Count

Urgent Stamp

I’m not a morbid person, but lately I’ve been thinking more and more about the concept of “What if I only had a year to live?” I’m not currently in danger of succumbing to a physical disease and I don’t engage in a plethora of risky behaviors, so the odds are I’ve got more than a few years left on this planet. Still, what if I knew my death was imminent or even if I was privy to know the date when my life would end? How might my life change? What would I do differently or perhaps for the first time, if I suddenly realized the clock was ticking?

Making An Impact

December 5, 2011 by Tim Sherfy

Big Splash

I believe that every true follower of Christ desires to make an impact on their world. It’s in our spiritual DNA; if we love Jesus, we will do what He tells us to do. That means making disciples of other believers, feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, and looking after the orphans and widows. As long as we are living out the mission of Christ, it will be our unending passion to impact our world for His glory. The question that we all need to ask ourselves is, “In what way are we making an impact for the Kingdom?”

Intentional Living

November 21, 2011 by Tim Sherfy

divergPensive Personing

When you gave your life to Christ, it was an intentional choice. Since that moment, how often have you made the same kind of conscious decision to live your life devoted to Him? Most of us drift through life content to do what everyone else does – find a steady job, live in a respectable neighborhood and perhaps start a family. Along the way our goals appear to be how much stuff we can acquire and how large we can grow our 401(k) balances. We live a life that looks no different from those who do not claim to follow Christ, most of whom don’t even believe He was who He said He was.
