As I have frequently espoused on this blog, we already know what the will of God is for our lives; we need simply read the Scriptures. We’ve often looked at the parable of the sheep and the goats in Matthew 25 which gives a very clear, concise overview of the things we should be doing.

The Bible is a large book, so I appreciate those sections that pack so much into a small portion of the text. However, we need to be careful and not simply stop with Matthew 25. Many of us get stuck thinking that our lives are insignificant and we don’t have the ability to make a difference in our world. We forget we have been created to do great work for Christ. The reason we know the work we do will be great is because it is done for the glory of God.

Anything done in His name not only has eternal impact but it also means that we are fulfilling our destiny. Nearly everyone wants to live a life of significance, to leave a mark on the world. Why are we here? What is God’s will for me? What should I do with my life? We’ve all asked some form of this question repeatedly throughout our lives. It wasn’t always this way in the church. There was a time when people knew exactly why they were here and what they were supposed to be doing with their time on the planet.

It seems like there are always a million reasons not to do the very thing we know we should be doing. Some wait to reach a certain level of financial security, while others convince themselves they don’t deserve to live the life of which they dream.

One of the greatest realizations you can have is that you were uniquely created with gifts and talents to continue the mission of Christ. Not only did He love you enough to die for you, but He also gifted you specifically to collaborate with Him in bringing the Kingdom of God to fruition.
