Never let the devil convince you that you are less than who God says you are. You are created in the image of God, designed to be holy and in perfect union with your Father in Heaven (John 17:21). Never doubt that fact. In the beginning, God created men and women in His image (Genesis 1:27). Yet we constantly see ourselves as lacking what we need to succeed or enjoy life.
Satan plants thoughts in our minds like we aren’t attractive enough, smart enough, skinny enough, talented enough, wealthy enough, and on it goes. Before believing any of those lies, recognize that as an image-bearer of God, you are more than enough. You have all the talent and resources needed to become the person God created you to be.
I know God has designed you for amazing things because everything God creates and does is amazing. Let it sink in again: you are created in the image of God. There is nothing God cannot do, and by extension, there is nothing that can stop you from becoming the person He created you to be. Actually, there is one thing: yourself. You can believe the lies of Satan and doubt you are who God says you are. You can reject the word of God and believe the devil over Jesus. If you do that, you will not become who God created you to be.
If you keep your focus on Jesus, there will not be space in your mind for the lies of Satan. The Son of God is too Holy for the devil to coexist with Him in your heart. We decide whether we will sell out to Jesus and Satan-proof our lives. We choose. If we follow Christ, the devil can harass, but he cannot overcome you. Jesus is the cure for your doubt, your feelings of inadequacy, and your despair. Each of these things comes from the evil one, and Jesus can and will destroy them if we only ask.
Every negative thought originates with the devil. If God would not think what you are thinking, then you must recognize the source of the thought could only be Satan. Jesus loves you and seeks only the best for you. He is an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). But we must choose Jesus. We cannot wallow in the thoughts implanted by the devil and keep our focus on Jesus at the same time. You have to decide. The choice to follow Jesus is yours, and you must choose every day.
Satan will make you doubt you are created in the image of God; he hopes to make you forget it. But we have the Word of God to tell us otherwise. We know what Jesus thinks of us. He calls us His friends (John 15:15). He wants no harm to befall you (2 Peter 3:9). He created you to do good works (Ephesians 2:10). And He loves you more than you can even fathom (John 3:16). You just have to believe it. Don’t doubt. You are a child of God, created in His image, designed for amazing work, and loved beyond measure.
