The truth is God’s Word. The truth is Jesus. There is no your truth, my truth, his truth, her truth. There is only the truth. The opinions of this world will always be just that: opinions. Truth is unchanging and eternal. No amount of virtue signaling or cultural capitulation can change the truth. Any activity or opinion that violates the Word of God is not just wrong, it is sin and open rebellion against the God who created you.
Maybe you don’t believe in God, or perhaps you do, but don’t believe in the Creation story of the Bible. It doesn’t matter. The truth is that you are wrong because the truth does not change based on your opinions or beliefs. God defines what is true, not any of us.
The truth is, we have all sinned and are guilty before God (Romans 3:23). This is the bad news of the Gospel. No one is the exception. God’s Word says all have sinned. Forget all your “What about…?” questions and any loopholes you think you’ve found. All have sinned and therefore must be made right with God. Something must be done to atone for our offense against the holiness of God. No one gets to God naked in their sin.
The truth is, without Jesus, we will die in our sin. Only the blood of Jesus can cover our filth and shame. He is the way to God, the truth of God, and the eternal life of God (John 14:6). Jesus sacrificed His life for ours. He died in our place, taking the guilt of our sin upon His sinless self. We cannot see the Father except through His Son. If we die in sin, it’s over. Eternal suffering awaits our souls (Matthew 7:17-23; Matthew 25:31-46). But if we die in Jesus, our destiny is eternal life with Him.
The truth is that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone, and if our faith is true, it will change the way we live (Ephesians 2:8-10). No amount of service to God or others will ever save our souls, but if our commitment to Jesus is genuine, service to God and others will consume our lives. If the commands of Jesus do not guide your life, it is doubtful you are born again. Born again people are never the same. Sure, we still sin, fail, and mess up. But those characteristics don’t define us. They aren’t what we’re about. The true disciple of Jesus is all about love for God and others. Personal dreams and preferences no longer matter.
The truth is, without Jesus, there is no hope. But the truth is, the choice to follow or reject Him is up to you. You can accept the gift of His salvation today. If you do, know the world will hate you (John 15:18-19). Know nothing in your life will ever look the same. But also know it is the best decision you will ever make. Following Jesus puts an extra bounce in your step (Matthew 11:30), no matter how dire your circumstances are. Your life is now secured in His. What’s the worst thing that could happen to you (Luke 12:4-5)? When you have Jesus, you have everything, regardless of what you have in this world. If you have everything this world offers, but lack Jesus, then you have nothing. You have gained the world but lost your soul (Mark 8:35-36). The truth is, it doesn’t have to be that way. Come to Jesus today and find life beyond your wildest imagination. Find life as He designed it to be.
