Do you ever marvel at the fact God created each of us in His very image? From the moment we are conceived, we bear the imprint of the Almighty God. Every individual has eternal worth and the potential for eternal glory. From the very beginning of God’s Word, we see God created us in His image (Genesis 1:27). It kind of makes self-esteem issues illogical, doesn’t it?
You are created in God’s image. There are no exceptions. Whether you are male or female, regardless of the shade of your skin or the shape of your body, you are created in the image of God. As His image-bearers, our chief end then is to love and glorify God. It is the reason we exist.
Since God created us in His image, Paul tells us to glorify God in everything we do (1 Corinthians 10:31). We want it to be obvious that we are the offspring of our Father. When we obey His commands and walk as Jesus walked, we reflect the glory of our Creator. When we don’t, the reflection dulls, and it may no longer be obvious that we are created in God’s image. That is not a place we want to find ourselves. Why would we want to dim the reflection of God’s glory in our life? His image in us is a tremendous honor and gift. Don’t despise it with selfish and futile living.
In his letter to the believers in Rome, Paul reminded them that every good and beautiful thing comes from the Lord, and all glory belongs to Him forever (Romans 11:36). If you want to bring glory to God, do what He tells you to do. Obey His commands. In this way, we prove our love for Him (John 14:15). What we do won’t save us, but what we do will show the sincerity of our commitment to Him. Our actions will either bring glory to God or ourselves. The only thing worth glorifying in our lives is the fact we were created in God’s image. There is nothing else remarkable about any of us.
Too many times we think this life is all about us, what we can achieve and acquire. When we recognize we are the created and not the Creator, it should remind us our desire should be to glorify God alone. We are nothing without Him. The greatest of God’s creation is nothing compared to the Father. We are small and He is great. He is all-powerful, and we are weak. He is God, and we are His servants.
Being created in God’s image demands our lives be lived for His glory. Who else should we glorify? Who else is worthy of our praise and devotion? There is no one like our God. Never become so proud you forget where you came from. If you boast, boast in the fact God created you in His image. Give all the glory to Him (Romans 15:17). God created us in His image to live for His glory. Isn’t it time we started living for Him? Glorify God every day in everything you say, think, and do. It is for this He has created us.
