Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus
We need to be more concerned with God’s will in this present moment than be worried about where He will lead us in the future. We often take the long view in trying to determine what God wants us to do with our lives while neglecting what we should be doing today. Being in God’s will is all about obeying Him in our daily lives. When we are living our lives in the ways He modeled for us, we are in His will. When we care for others and think less of ourselves, we are doing God’s will.
Are you still waiting for divine revelation to strike like lightening before you engage in building the Kingdom of God here on earth? If so, I have some great news for you. That revelation occurred 2,000 years ago when God walked among us in the person of Jesus Christ. You and I have been commissioned since the day we committed our lives to Jesus. The time to get started is now. No more excuses, no more rationalizations. You are equipped to begin right now.
It seems so many Christians are desperately seeking to find God’s will for their lives. From my observations, perhaps no other question causes more stress in the life of a believer than this one. I’ve seen far too many Christians paralyzed over not being able to figure out the exact path God wants them to walk. Instead of doing something that would further the mission of Christ, they become frozen in the fear of doing anything outside of God’s perfect will for their lives. Christians have allowed secular influences to color the way we understand the will of God. We’ve twisted the message of what God’s will is for the Church and narrowed it down into seeking what His will is for our individual lives. That’s not in the Bible; it’s only in our own selfish and short-sighted interpretation.
As I have frequently espoused on this blog, we already know what the will of God is for our lives; we need simply read the Scriptures. We’ve often looked at the parable of the sheep and the goats in Matthew 25 which gives a very clear, concise overview of the things we should be doing.
The Bible is a large book, so I appreciate those sections that pack so much into a small portion of the text. However, we need to be careful and not simply stop with Matthew 25.
