Even If i Walk Alone

Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus

Love

You are a New Creation

May 20, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

Jesus is Lord,Jesus first, behold all things are new, priorities, what is the meaning of life, what are you living for, living for Jesus,God's will for my life

In David Platt’s latest book, “Follow Me”, he writes a profound truth that, if consistently grasped, would radically transform the way we live. David says, “Feel the magnitude of this: when you come to Jesus, He puts the source of His life in the center of your life. This is the heart of Jesus’ call to follow Him. When you become a Christian, you die, and Jesus becomes your life.” Those of us on a journey to follow Jesus already know this in our heads, but have we truly grasped it in our hearts? Think about what is implied here. We die. Everything we once found so valuable, all that we considered worth working towards, every source of pleasure – none of it matters anymore.

Give Me Jesus

May 16, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

God is love,love,jesus is enough,only love remains,love one another,love rules,love does,love is,love wins

Fernando Ortega wrote a song several years ago called, “Give Me Jesus”. Many will be familiar with the Anne Graham Lotz book and seminar of the same name. The lyrics of the song are tremendous with a refrain of, “You can have all this world/Just give me Jesus.” How amazingly beautiful, but can we honestly sing those words? Are we really willing to cede every earthly pleasure and reward for the love of Jesus? If we had nothing else, would Jesus be enough? Is knowing Jesus enough to carry us through any storm we might face in this world? This is the level of desire His love demands.

Reading the Bible

May 13, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

read the Bible in a year,Bible reading plans, reading through the Bible, read the Bible, how to read the Bible, why you should read the Bible, why should I read the Bible

Every time I read through the Bible, I enjoy it more. For the past few years I have practiced the habit of reading it yearly, and this year I decided to read it twice. The reason is because with each reading I gain greater understanding of the overall picture and better comprehend how it relates to my life. If you’ve never read through the whole Bible, I encourage you to do so. You don’t have to wait for January 1st to begin. You don’t even have to complete it in a year. Just take it a small piece at a time. You’ll be surprised how the momentum builds as you discipline yourself to read just a couple of chapters each day.

The Life of a Disciple

May 6, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

Being a disciple of Jesus means you are constantly seeking to obey His commands and live in the manner He did. It means demonstrating love in all your interactions and exemplifying humility as you consistently seek to serve others. It’s a tall order and one that is not easily accomplished. Jesus warned that the way to Heaven was through a narrow gate (Matthew 7:13-14). Without a doubt, it’s easier to travel the wide and well worn path in life, but we have chosen to follow Christ. As a result, our lives must look different from those around us. When people see us, they should catch a glimpse of Jesus.

When Tragedy Strikes

April 18, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

free will,freewill,evil,sin,boston marathon,bombing,terrorist attack

The bombings at the Boston Marathon again have people shaking their fists, pointing fingers, and asking, “Where was God?” The first instinct of many when something tragic occurs is to blame God for not preventing it or even to accuse Him of orchestrating it. Strip away everything else you know about God and you will be left with an incomprehensible love. Love does not maim; it does not kill. Love protects and heals. There is no part of the bombing that was part of God’s plan, despite what some seriously misguided individuals might have you believe. Sickness and hatred were behind the bombings. These traits are the antithesis of who God is.
