Does the gospel still fascinate and overwhelm you? Do you still marvel at the outrageous generosity of God in selecting you to be one of the chosen few? (Ephesians 1:4-5; John 15:16) Or, as time has gone by, have you grown cold and indifferent to the beauty of the gospel? When we first awaken to the truth of God’s love and sacrifice, it’s almost impossible to keep it to ourselves.

We want to share the truth of Jesus with everyone we meet. But then comes the rejection and the ridicule. It seems not everyone is so excited to hear about Christ. Our love for Him does not fade, but many times our zeal does. (Revelation 2:4-5; Romans 12:11) Sharing Jesus becomes an afterthought and the gospel something we came to accept but no longer think about.
The beauty of the gospel is that it’s timeless. We don’t just need to hear it once and move on; we need to bathe in it as often as we can. Think about what we know. Before He created the first man, the all-knowing, all-powerful God set in motion the plan to send His only Son to die in our place. (1 Peter 1:20-21) Before we even existed, God had already chosen us and made a way for us to be saved from the sins we would commit. (Ephesians 1:4; 2 Timothy 1:9) He also decided you would be one of those who would believe in Christ and live with Him for eternity. (Romans 8:29-30; John 6:37) If that doesn’t blow your mind, have someone check for a pulse!
We watch our favorite movies, listen to our favorite records, and read our favorite books over and over again. Why would we not do the same with the gospel? It’s too good to read once and set aside. The gospel is the lifeblood in our veins.
While never ceasing to be God, Jesus became a man. (John 1:14; Philippians 2:5-8) As a man, He chose to suffer, bleed, and die in our place. (Isaiah 53:5-6; 1 Peter 3:18) As God, He had the power to raise Himself from the dead and defeat the very power death holds over us. (John 10:17-18; 1 Corinthians 15:54-57) And now He is preparing a place for us in Heaven to live in eternity with Him. (John 14:2-3) This isn’t a fairytale; it’s the gospel truth.
How can the beauty of the gospel do anything but amaze you? Read it, study it, live it, and then read it again. Consider what it means to be chosen by God, to be His child, part of His family, and co-heirs with Jesus of all that God is. (Romans 8:15-17; 1 John 3:1) It’s more than our minds can comprehend, and that makes it all the more incredible. We don’t get excited enough about the truth we believe and know.
The beauty of the gospel is to be received, lived, and shared. (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 1:16) Don’t keep it to yourself and never stop rehearsing God’s beauty, sacrifice, generosity, and love. Our God is too big to grasp and too kind to ever repay. His wrath is too great for anyone to survive, which makes His plan of salvation even more baffling and glorious.
The gospel is for the lost, but also for the redeemed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-2; Colossians 2:6-7) We must never forget what Jesus did for us or what it cost. (1 Peter 1:18-19) We must never take for granted the miracle of salvation in our lives. Jesus is King, and He is Lord. (Philippians 2:9-11; Revelation 19:16) He gave everything so we might bask in His presence and worship Him forever. (John 17:24; Revelation 22:1-5) That is the beauty of the gospel.
