Even If i Walk Alone

Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus

Sin Has Consequences

December 1, 2022 by Tim Sherfy

While it seems obvious to say, sin has consequences. Everything we do against the holiness of God will subject us to punishment. Despite what many think, or what casual observation appears to reveal, no one can thumb their nose at God and get away with it. Our God is holy and sin cannot exist in His presence. It is only His patient love and goodness that prevents Him from incinerating this world right now.

There have been periods of great evil in the history of our world, and we are certainly living through a devastatingly wicked period right now. God is patient, but He will not remain so forever. Someday, perhaps very soon, the righteous anger of our holy God will be unleashed and destruction awaits all those who refuse to bow to Him as Lord.

Tell Everyone

November 28, 2022 by Tim Sherfy

Does the fact so many don’t know Jesus break your heart? Every morning when I pray, I bring an ever-growing list of names before the Lord. So many of my family and friends do not know Jesus as their Savior. The older I get, the more devastating this becomes. The number of people I know who don’t know Jesus convicts me that I’m not doing enough.

What is it about my life that is not compelling enough for them to want Jesus? I know it is the work of the Holy Spirit to convict a person, and I should not take this all on myself. Yet the command of our Lord to go and tell everyone about Him looms large in my conscience as I feel the weight of my responsibility.

Jesus is Coming Back

November 24, 2022 by Tim Sherfy

Perhaps there is nothing greater to be thankful for than the fact Jesus is coming again. In a world full of evil and destruction, we are daily in desperate need of hope. We need a reason to believe things will get better and that this life is not all there is. All these things are fulfilled in the fact Jesus is coming again. Everything we experience here is temporary. One day, we will forget all our troubles, pain, and despair.

If that isn’t a reason to be thankful, I don’t know what is. The day of Christ’s return is coming, of that, we can be certain. I figure, statistically, I’ve got twenty or thirty years left in this world. The Lord may not come back in my lifetime. Or, He may return in the next twenty or thirty seconds; we just don’t know. What we do know is Jesus is coming back. Thank God for that!

State of Our Nation

November 21, 2022 by Tim Sherfy

In a world bent on rebellion, the early chapters of Isaiah will lead to a very sobering study. As I was reading through the first couple of chapters recently, it was striking by how relevant they are to our world today. The Lord gave the prophecy about Israel, but it’s almost impossible to not draw parallels with most of our Western world, particularly the USA. Some believe America is modern-day Israel in terms of biblical prophecy.

I disagree, but that is not the point of this discussion. The point is to recognize God is consistent and will surely punish modern nations just as He did Israel in ancient times if we continue to rebel against Him. The Lord is exceedingly patient, but eventually, that patience will wane and His holiness will demand justice. Perhaps we are already seeing that justice revealed.

Idolatry

November 17, 2022 by Tim Sherfy

Few of us would say we struggle with the sin of idolatry, but almost all of us do. Idolatry takes on so many forms that it is difficult to recognize. The fact is, most of us would be unaware if not for someone else pointing out the issue in our life. The hard truth is Jesus plainly said we cannot serve two masters; He said we would love one and hate the other (Matthew 6:24).

Therefore, if we are falling prey to idolatry, we are introducing a second master into our lives. This means we love it more than we love Christ. We would never say it like that, but our lives reveal the truth.
