Do You Care?

We seem indifferent to the death of strangers, and to a degree, even to those we may know. It’s one thing if that person is a believer, in which case we should celebrate. I’m more concerned with those who die without Christ. Do you care that every time one of them dies that they will spend eternity in a very real Hell (Revelation 20:15)? Do you feel the weight of this when they die?

If you are like me, it’s easy to become numbed to the deaths of so many. But this should never be the case. Our mission is to go into the harvest and warn as many as we can about the coming judgment and their eternal fate (Matthew 28:19–20; Matthew 9:37-38).

Not Ashamed

Do your neighbors, co-workers, and friends know you are a Christian? Is your family aware that Jesus Christ is the most important thing in your life? Everywhere Paul traveled, the people knew he was a follower of Jesus. He wasn’t afraid to be bold in proclaiming the gospel of Christ. Against all odds, he stood firm in the faith (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

He made the underlying reason for his boldness known when he wrote, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. For in it God’s righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith” (Romans 1:16-17). You know the question that’s coming… Are you ashamed to proclaim the gospel?

Choose Whom You Will Worship

Every day, you must choose whom you will worship (Joshua 24:15). There is the bigger picture about whether you will worship the one true God or pursue some false religion. Then there are the little decisions you make every day. With each choice, you will side with God or comport with the enemy.

If we don’t develop the conscious discipline and habit of thinking this way, we are going to lose more battles than we’ll win. It’s easier to sin than to pursue holiness. We prefer to live the way we want to instead of following the narrow path that leads to eternal life in Jesus (Matthew 7:13-14).
