Even If i Walk Alone

Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus

Matthew

Jesus is Everything

April 22, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

true peace, peace, finding peace, peace in Jesus

Some day I’m going to figure out why we go looking for things to satisfy the longings of our heart. We have devoted our lives to serving God, the One who created us, loved us, and died for us. He has been there for us our entire lives. Yet the moment something doesn’t go our way, we react like spoiled children and immediately begin seeking comfort and enjoyment in the things of this world. We consume our time with endeavors that bring at best a fleeting distraction that brings no long term joy or fulfillment. Meanwhile our King waits patiently on the sidelines.

Becoming God’s Will for Your Life

April 15, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

God's Will,what should I do with my life,love one another,finding god's will

In a recent post (see “God’s Will Today”), I wrote that “God’s will isn’t something you do, it’s someone you become”. I wanted to spend a little more time on this because it is the key to living a fulfilled life, one that is spent following Jesus. We spin our wheels and waste so much time in futile pursuit of what God wants us to do with our lives. The question should not be, “Lord, what do you want me to do with my life?” Instead we should be asking, “Lord, who do you want me to become in my life?”

What it Means to Follow Jesus

March 25, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

Jesus is Lord,Lord of your life,Jesus first,God first, total surrender,no compromise, what does it mean to be a christian, what does it mean to follow christ, radical, disciple, crazy love

The most popular post I ever wrote was titled, “What Does it Mean to be a Christian?” I wrote that after a close friend of mine had accepted the Lord and I wanted to give him a primer of sorts as to what living a life devoted to Christ should look like. I believe that we who have called ourselves Christians for a long time probably skim over articles such as that one, assuming they are too basic or that we already know what being a Christ-follower entails. The past couple of years have convinced me that nothing could be further from the truth. The vast majority of people calling themselves Christians have no idea what it means to truly follow Christ.

Glorify God

March 21, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

Jesus is Lord,Lord of your life,Jesus first,God first,live like Jesus,follow Jesus,stewardship,poverty

In 2 Timothy 2:4, Paul tells us that “No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in the concerns of civilian life; he seeks to please the recruiter.” Each of us has been recruited by Jesus Himself to serve as soldiers in His army. Our orders are to further His mission and bring about the Kingdom of God here on earth. When we said yes to Jesus, we enlisted in His service for the remainder of our lives. We surrendered our individual wills and desires in deference to the plans and purposes of God. We are no longer our own, for we were bought at a price (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Fan or Follower?

March 7, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

Jesus is Lord,Lord of your life,Jesus first,God first,not a fan,kyle idleman,devotion

What are we doing? How much longer are we going to play at this thing called Christianity? We prayed the prayer. We got baptized. We’re good. Is that all there is? Why did Jesus say that one day many would come to Him saying, “Lord, Lord!”, and yet He will send them away because He never knew them (Matthew 7:21-23)? Are we missing something? Surely we know and are blessed by God; how else could we be so content and living such comfortable lives? We have been lulled into a false security and our very lives hang in the balance.
