How often do you thank God for your salvation? If you are like me, it isn’t often enough. Sometimes in prayer, I will get overwhelmed when I think of all the Lord has done on my behalf. All the blessings, all the battles won, all the moments that have no other explanation apart from Him-all of those combined don’t come close to the incredible gift of His salvation.
Where would you be without the love of Christ? Without Him, this life would be meaningless and unbearable. Without Him, we have no hope for the future and no purpose in life (Ephesians 2:11-12). Yet we go through day after day without thanking Him for His priceless and matchless gift (2 Corinthians 9:15).
We take far too many things for granted in our lives. It’s yet another sinister tool of Satan that lulls us into complacency. No one is so useless to God as a complacent person (Revelation 3:15-16). We are no longer motivated to pursue the holiness of God (1 Peter 1:15-16) when we lose the fascination of our redemption and forget the price Jesus paid on our behalf (1 Corinthians 6:20). Complacency breeds ineffectiveness, and ineffectiveness breeds irrelevance. Do you want to live an irrelevant life for the Kingdom?
Before your feet hit the floor each morning, and before your head hits the pillow at night, thank God for your salvation. You didn’t earn it and you don’t deserve it (Titus 3:5). It is the gift of God, so none of us could say we achieved it on our own (Ephesians 2:8-9). Remember your destination if not for the precious blood of Jesus (Romans 5:9). His blood saves you from an eternity not only separated from your Creator but engulfed in torment beyond imagination (Matthew 25:41). Only salvation through Christ will save you from the terrifying judgment of God (Hebrews 10:26-27).
Each of us was dead in our sins, wicked beyond help, and toiling in despair (Ephesians 2:1-2). No matter how much we might try to pretend, life without Jesus has no purpose, no direction, and no hope. Without Christ, there is a hole in our soul that aches with relentless sorrow (Psalm 42:2; Psalm 63:1; Matthew 11:28-29). We can numb it but never cure it. There is only one way, one hope, and one life (John 14:6).
As you go throughout your day, thank God for your salvation. His pain paves the way for our peace (Isaiah 53:5; Romans 5:1). It’s a peace we have access to not only today, but for eternity. Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, this life is not the end. We have a purpose. We have a brilliant hope for the future. Salvation is the most incredible gift you can ever receive. Without it, you are dead in every way. But through Christ, you are alive and will spend eternity in His presence (1 John 5:11-12). No words are adequate to express the gratitude we should have for Christ’s sacrifice (Romans 8:32). He loves us so much that He bled and died just so we might live (Romans 5:8). It’s incredible. Never forget or neglect to thank God for your salvation.
