Even If i Walk Alone

Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus

So Simple

August 17, 2026 by Tim Sherfy

The way to eternal life is so simple. A teacher of the Law, hoping to trip Jesus up, asked Him what one needed to do to inherit eternal life. Jesus didn’t respond with an elegant, long-winded answer or a sophisticated process through which we can be saved. Rather, the Lord turned the question back on the scribe by asking the man what scripture said about his question.

The teacher answered, “To love the Lord with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind.” Jesus affirmed the man’s answer and told him that if he would do this, he would live. (Luke 10:25-28) There was no way anyone could misunderstand His answer, no way anyone could twist it to fit their ideas. Love the Lord with everything you’ve got, and you will have eternal life.

Hypocrisy Is Useless

August 13, 2026 by Tim Sherfy

Hypocrisy is useless. After all, who do you think you’re fooling? God knows your innermost thoughts. (Psalm 139:1-4; Jeremiah 17:10) You can hide nothing from Him. (Psalm 139:7-12; Proverbs 15:3) To be a hypocrite, then, means you are living your life for someone besides the Lord. And we know that is the most futile thing you can do.

Hypocrisy is only pandering to fellow sinners in hopes they may esteem you as better than themselves. You are the same as them, and perhaps a little worse because you refuse to believe that truth. That is the height of arrogance and pride. Both are detestable to our King. (Proverbs 16:5; James 4:6) So, what is the point of being a hypocrite?

Our Father

July 16, 2026 by Tim Sherfy

God is our Father, and as such, we must be careful how we represent the holy and impartial Judge in our brief time on earth. We must do nothing to bring shame to His name (Matthew 5:16), dishonor His Word (Psalm 119:9), or grieve His Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 4:30) We are to live in a constant state of reverence and awe towards Him. (1 Peter 1:17). Some of us have wonderful human fathers, and others of us have one who was anything but.

Too many have never known their father. No matter what kind of physical father you have, your spiritual Father in Heaven is everything you ever wanted a father to be and so much more. The Lord grafts everyone who confesses Jesus as Lord and believes in Him as Savior into the family of God. The God of the Universe is now your Father and forever will be.

There Is Nothing to Fear

July 13, 2026 by Tim Sherfy

One of the most quoted verses in the Bible is Philippians 4:13, which says, “I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me.” It’s a go-to verse whenever we are going through trials of any kind. People use it for comfort and encouragement, and it is that. But as Pastor Robert Sheehan writes, the verse “is meant to be a principle of living, not just a motto for special occasions!”

We should live every moment in the realization that there is no part of God’s will we cannot accomplish in His strength. No obstacle to His will is too great to overcome, and no challenge too daunting. Nothing can thwart the Lord’s will from being done (Job 42:2; Isaiah 46:10), and nothing can stop those who abide in Him from completing the work He gives them to do. (John 15:5; Philippians 1:6) There is nothing to fear.

Come to Christ to Die

June 18, 2026 by Tim Sherfy

While it seems most people reject Christ, those same people would also jump at the chance to get everything He offers. They want the benefits without the sacrifice. Who wouldn’t want that deal? The deal Jesus offers is better by far, but on the surface, it doesn’t look like it is. As with many things in life, looks can be deceiving.

The people of this world want peace, happiness, and wealth without surrendering their selfish desires. Jesus promises rest, joy, and an eternity in paradise, but He does require that you first surrender everything to Him. (Luke 14:33; Matthew 16:24) So, don’t come to Christ for what He will do for you. Come to Christ to die. (Galatians 2:19-20; Luke 9:23)
