The Curse of Prosperity

I watched a video of Haiti this morning and was struck by the looks of desperation in the eyes of the people. I saw very young children in alleyways looking lost and mothers sitting in makeshift clinics, their faces stoic and without hope. The earthquakes of 2010 exacerbated the problems in an already failing infrastructure.

A House Divided

As we embark on the journey of following Jesus, it is important to understand that this is an all or nothing commitment. True followers of Christ did not ask Him to be Lord of their life with their fingers crossed or thinking that they would maintain some areas of control for themselves. No, when we committed our lives to Jesus, if we were sincere, we signed over everything to Him.

A Divided House

Discovering God’s Will

As I have frequently espoused on this blog, we already know what the will of God is for our lives; we need simply read the Scriptures. We’ve often looked at the parable of the sheep and the goats in Matthew 25 which gives a very clear, concise overview of the things we should be doing.

The Bible is a large book, so I appreciate those sections that pack so much into a small portion of the text. However, we need to be careful and not simply stop with Matthew 25. What is your response when you see images of starving children on TV? Do you turn the channel in search of more entertaining fare, or do you linger and watch the unimaginable images on the screen? Are you moved to take action or do you make excuses and expect someone else to help?
