Even If i Walk Alone

Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus

II Corinthians

Fight

November 5, 2015 by Tim Sherfy

“When whole regiments of professed believers are too timid to fight and too smug to be ashamed, surely it must bring an astringent smile to the face of the enemy; and it should bring a blush to the cheeks of the whole Church of Christ.” This is certainly no less true today than it was when A.W. Tozer wrote those words over fifty years ago.

Many of us look back and lament the days when the Church took the fight to the enemy, but Tozer’s observation of his own times shows those days are further behind us than we dare think or imagine. As a whole, the Church has lost the will to fight and refuses to be ashamed at the weakness of its plight.

Who We Will Become

In 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, we are instructed to take every thought captive. In other words, we have to be careful which thoughts we allow into our minds. A.W. Tozer said, “If we are honest with ourselves we can discover not only what we are but what we are going to become. We’ll soon be the sum of our voluntary thoughts.” We become that about which we think. If we want to live a life that looks like Christ, then we must become intentional about which thoughts we allow to take hold in our head. Jesus thought only of pleasing His Father and completing the mission He was sent to accomplish. That’s all He thought about, and it resulted in the only perfect life that has ever been lived.

Come and See

What is it God wants to do in your life? God says, “This is what I have for you; come and see!” But we respond, “Oh no Lord; not me!” Why is our faith so weak that we cannot believe that God can do whatever He wants to accomplish in our lives? Why is our vision so small that we can only dream of what is possible through our own strength? Paul said in Philippians 4:13 that he could do all things through the strength of Christ. All things! He didn’t say some things or easy things, but all things.

The Measure of a Day

Each of us is responsible for what we put into and get out of a day. Circumstances will threaten our path and sway our courage. No one is required to lend a hand when we are in need. Comfort and success are elusive friends and we are more likely to encounter loneliness and defeat. Life in a fallen world is bitter, hard, and cold. Yet the potential for the fantastic and nearly unthinkable lurk within the shadows of each morning. It is up to us to decide whether or not to bring such possibilities to life or let them fade with the morning dew.

What’s On Your Mind?

January 31, 2013 by Tim Sherfy

think on these things, you are what you think about, ppurity, think positive, thought life

There’s a wise adage that says, “What has your attention has you”. So the question is really obvious; what has your attention today? If our focus is anywhere other than on Jesus Christ, we are captured by something other than Him. Satan is a master of distraction. Since the dawn of time he has been parading a feast of temptation before our eyes (Genesis 3:1-6). He doesn’t care if you ever go his way; he’s content to just keep your eyes off of Jesus. We make it too easy for him.
