Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus
People choose to follow Jesus for many reasons. Many follow Him in an effort to reach Heaven and, by default, escape the fiery depths of Hell. Others follow Him because they see Him as a wise and moral teacher.

Mark Sanborn wrote a great little book a couple of years ago called, “You Don’t Need a Title to be a Leader”. The premise of the book was that people at any level or profession can choose to be a leader in their own set of circumstances. Your name plate didn’t need a title to enable you to be a leader right where you were.
I believe the same principle can be applied to our walk with Christ. You don’t need a title to make disciples. Too many times we leave it up to the pastors and elders of our churches to do the spiritual heavy lifting, when the truth is Christ has empowered all of us to do the work of His kingdom. As we embark on the journey of following Jesus, it is important to understand that this is an all or nothing commitment. True followers of Christ did not ask Him to be Lord of their life with their fingers crossed or thinking that they would maintain some areas of control for themselves. No, when we committed our lives to Jesus, if we were sincere, we signed over everything to Him.

As I have frequently espoused on this blog, we already know what the will of God is for our lives; we need simply read the Scriptures. We’ve often looked at the parable of the sheep and the goats in Matthew 25 which gives a very clear, concise overview of the things we should be doing.
The Bible is a large book, so I appreciate those sections that pack so much into a small portion of the text. However, we need to be careful and not simply stop with Matthew 25. We are great at making excuses. When God calls us to do something for Him, it seems we have a ready arsenal of reasons He needs to ask someone else. In fact, judging by own life and observations of life in general, there is apparently no right time to do the work of the Kingdom.
Sometimes we’re too young, while other times we’re too old. We don’t have enough money to help, or we have too many resources to be able to sacrifice them all. Whatever the request, we always seem able to manufacture an excuse as to why now is not a good time. [Read more…] about No More Excuses
