Even If i Walk Alone

Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus

Made for This

February 23, 2026 by Tim Sherfy

Brothers and sisters, we were made for this: to live every moment of our lives for the glory of Christ and no one else. (1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:17) We do not live for the praise of men or for any self-satisfaction. (Galatians 1:10; John 5:44) God created us in His image (Genesis 1:27) and it is our duty to spend every ounce of life in this world learning to look like Him. (Romans 8:29; Ephesians 5:1)

You will never live the life God intends for you until you stop pursuing your desires and ambitions. (Luke 9:23) You will never understand God’s will for you until you stop making it about yourself. (Proverbs 3:5–6) God made you to love Him, serve Him, and share His gospel with everyone you meet. (Matthew 22:37–39; Matthew 28:19–20) That should be the sum of any life surrendered to Christ.

God did not make you to be an influencer of any sort beyond spreading the gospel and living a pure and holy life. (Philippians 2:14–16; 1 Peter 1:15–16) The fickle world only cares about your opinions as long as it finds them palatable and useful. Any amount of influence in this world is temporary and lasts only for a moment. (1 John 2:17; James 4:14) The Lord did not design you to pontificate about your wisdom or achievements. (Jeremiah 9:23–24) All glory belongs to God, and He will meet every attempt to steal some for yourself with dire and eternal consequences. (Isaiah 42:8; Acts 12:23) To glorify yourself is to mock God, and He will not tolerate such injustice. (Proverbs 16:5; Galatians 6:7)

Do you doubt you were made for this? Paul tells us that studying God’s Word equips us for every good work in life. (2 Timothy 3:16–17) There is nothing you lack to carry out all that God intends for you to do. (2 Peter 1:3) The Lord has put all of Heaven at your disposal to spread the truth of the Gospel. (Matthew 28:18) We only need to stop promoting ourselves long enough to grasp all that He has for us.

God made you to give everything you have for the sake of the Kingdom. (Matthew 13:44; Philippians 3:7–8) We only go around once, so to leave anything undone is to live an unfulfilled life. Jesus lived a perfect life and calls you to do the same. (1 Peter 2:21–22; Matthew 5:48) Perfection leaves no unfinished business but completes all the Lord gives them to do. (John 17:1-4) You know you were made for this because deep down you desire to live for something higher than yourself, someone who is the ultimate truth and power. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) You feel it in your bones and in the restless stirring of your soul.

You were made for this. It is the call of every believer in Christ to put aside all the trappings of this world and surrender to Jesus. (Romans 12:1–2; 1 John 2:15) True disciples of Christ must pick up their cross and follow Him. (Luke 9:23) When you are dragging a cross, you have no capacity to carry anything else. You have to let it all go until all that remains is what you are doing for Jesus. All your life will be a vicious battle between the desires of your flesh and the perfect will of the Lord. (Galatians 5:17) Life in this world is a war, and we must never forget it. (Ephesians 6:12) Be strong and unafraid; fight like a man. (1 Corinthians 16:13) You have nothing to fear, because you were made for this. (2 Timothy 1:7)
