Even If i Walk Alone

Instructing and encouraging you to live your life as a disciple of Jesus

Busy, Distracted, and Noisy

August 14, 2025 by Tim Sherfy

Our lives are busy, distracted, and noisy. As long as this is the case, we will never experience what God intends for our lives to be. We will never experience what it is to be close to Him. To come to the full knowledge of God, our lives must revolve around nothing other than Him (Matthew 6:33). It is no small blessing that nothing on earth compares to the glory and majesty of Jesus because that means we can set our affections on the One more valuable and magnificent than any other (Colossians 3:1–2)!

Man drinking coffee, signing papers, and talking on the phone all at the same time because his life is busy, distracted, and noisy

If only we lived as if we believed this were true. Instead, we fill our minds with indecency, our ears with heresy, and our lives with irrelevancy (Philippians 4:8; 2 Timothy 4:3–4). We can not conceive of how much better our lives would be if we eschewed the fallen things of this world and lived lives devoted to the Savior of our souls.

Already Dead

May 15, 2025 by Tim Sherfy

What God wants, and the world needs, is dead people. Being willing to die for Christ is the necessary point of surrender for all who profess Jesus as Lord, but it’s only theory until you take the next step. Plenty of people say they would die for their faith, but very few ever do. I’m not talking about physical death, I’m talking about dying to everything in this world.

God doesn’t need another person who claims Him as Lord but can’t let go of the entanglements of this life (2 Timothy 2:4). Christians who are already dead desire nothing and nothing sways them. This world no longer holds a single claim on their lives.

Our God Is Awesome

April 3, 2025 by Tim Sherfy

Do you ever have those moments when it occurs to you how much of an idiot you are? I’m hoping there are some nodding heads out there and I’m not alone in feeling this way. There are those moments of clarity when I’m reminded of who God is, how glorious and majestic He is, and how small I am. I understand God created us in His image (Genesis 1:27), so this is not about diminishing who we are in the eyes of our Maker.

What I mean is we don’t spend enough time contemplating the sheer awesomeness of the God we serve (Psalm 145:3). If the point of our lives is not to know, glorify, and to be known by our Heavenly Father, then there is no point to any of this (John 17:3). Our God is awesome, beyond all words or comprehension (Isaiah 40:28).

Our Fruit

February 3, 2025 by Tim Sherfy

Throughout scripture, we see a great importance placed on our fruit. Our fruit is what we produce and cultivate by our actions, decisions, and attitudes. It is the ultimate result of how we live. Good fruit is that which pleases and brings glory to God, while bad fruit results from selfish and prideful living. We often say our excess is the fruit of our labors because hard work often results in providing for the needs of our families and ourselves.

A farmer who does not sow his fields will not reap a harvest. An office worker who goofs off all day will not get the promotion they crave. We reap what we sow in the physical world, and this is even more true in the spiritual realm (Galatians 6:7-8).
